The Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea are both fed by the river Jordon and that’s where the similarities between these two seas start and end.

The Sea of Galilee teems with life. It has fresh water, 27 species of birds and many different fish. It also has lush and beautiful vegetation around its shores. People can swim in its water.

The Dead sea on the other hand contains no life at all. No one can swim in its water …It is toxic and bitter.

Yet they are both fed by a single source!

How can 2 rivers fed by a single source be so different?

The answer is that the Sea of Galilee receives water at one end and gives out the water at the other end. The Dead Sea receives water but has no outlet. It keeps it all within itself.

My take:

The entire universe operates in cycles similar to our inhalations and exhalations. When we only exhale (give) or only inhale (receive), we go out of rhythm with the universe. For optimal health, energy and replenishment, balance each inhalation in your life with an exhalation.

When you only give, it leads to feelings of being taken advantage and when you only receive, it may lead to feelings of guilt and unease.

While it is impossible to perfectly balance giving and receiving each day, you can endeavour to strike a healthy balance.

How do you do this?

Make sure to give something like money, time, gifts, compliments on a daily basis without expecting anything back. On the same day, be a gracious receiver to unexpected offers of help, compliments or other gifts... say thank you without embarrassment or guilt. In relationships where you are the primary giver, express your needs and ask for help.

Always tithe what you would like to receive!
